The normally earsplitting atmosphere was broken once again by the sounds of rumbling exhausts as cars from all over Malaysia converged at the open air car park of MAEPS to take part in the KBS – FX Drift Challenge. The event was a mix of novice drivers and expert drivers. Although some of big names weren’t there, it doesn’t hurt the event that much in my opinion. The crowd and the media really enjoyed the show. The organizers had done a great job bringing back drifting to the fans. After all, the show belongs to them and gladly the organizers realized this. I expect they preserve similar status in the future. Elitism scares people away and will turn any sport into a political battlefield.

On the events, it was a great final battle between Ivan Lau and Along Rempit. Along Rempit emerge victorious. None of the novice drivers came close to the expert guys, but I guess it’s the way it’s in any event.

That white shirt dude is the champ. Once a privateer before with no sponsors, Along Rempit has now made a mark on Malaysian drifting scene. Guys! take note of this name, maybe you will see him more on my Malaysian drifting coverage in the future.

Guys at feintodrifters.com is the organizer. Under their belt, they have expert drivers and expert PR lobbyist. Considering their close rapport with the government I expect more drift events in the future!!.

Wanboss Silvia Feintodrifter’s car. This was after practice runs hence no bumper. Anyway, this reinstated my belief that you can’t possibly drift and end up one piece at the end of the day.

No no, she is not a model. This is Jane Cheah, the best female drifter in South East Asia. In the background is her husband Arif Johannis, a well known and successful drifter too. Can you imagine wife and husband in a tandem battle? How sweet.

Wanboss is 3rd. I enjoy his drift performance a lot. He is truly a great drifter.

Ivan Lau is undeniably the most entertaining drifter at the event. He scored 100 in qualifying with his gangster run.

Jane Cheah’s Silvia Sync Optima in a transition to the first clipping point. Jane was fantastic, she manage to give Along a scare by getting into One More Time only to lose by a spun approaching the final clipping point.

Ivan Lau initiates an entry. I was standing very close to get this shot with only cones separating me and death. Early on, my friend had a near miss here. However, it’s in no way that the organizers had not take safety precaution. It’s safe here but accident is part of motorsports. It’s a risk drivers and photographers alike had to take.
