2 pole positions, 2 wins and 2 fastest laps. A perfect weekend as far as Neel Jani from A1 Team Switzerland is concerned. No such luck for A1 Team Malaysia driver Alex Yoong. To the disappointment of local supporters that went to cheer him, Yoong only managed to score 2 points from the sprint race.

In the feature race, Yoong managed to get a great start jumping from 15th to 9th position. Unfortunately, he collided with Jonny Reid from A1 Team New Zealand in the 2nd lap. Although both of them managed to continue, the chance for finishing in the points was demolished, as the whole field passes by.

Loic Duval from A1 Team France finished in 2nd place while Sergio Jimenez from A1 Team Brazil (above) took 3rd.

Malaysia is well known for its unbearable heat, which provides a challenge to the drivers like no other circuit. Even locals like Alex Yoong is finding it tough in this difficult conditions, especially when the post race interview was conducted under the sun. Can we go to Press Conference room instead?

On a sidenote, friendly is not the word that you would associate with the environment in the pit garage. Mechanics and engineers prefer to work undisturbed and away from the media and fans attention. And this is fully understandable, considering the amount of workload and tasks involved.

But it is nice to see that these guys from A1 Team Malaysia still have the time show the fun side in them. The hanging orang utan on their garage greeted everybody that passes by with a warm smile. Classic!

Ever wonder how a rear axle and suspension looks like when it was disjointed from the rear wheel? As the photo of the A1 Team Africa car above suggests, a complete mess!
