Recap – Super GT 2009 at the Sepang International Circuit : Qualifying Session

Although it was raining heavily during the practice session in the morning, the sun started to shine again in the evening.
It was a dry qualifying session with the MOTUL AUTECH GT-R (below) grabbing pole position with a time of 1:58.124, just 0.071 seconds faster than the 2nd place car, HASEMI TOMICA EBBRO GT-R. The I.M JIHAN CO.LTD•APPLE•Shiden took pole for the GT300 class, only to be penalised later due to a handicap weight infraction. The pole went to S Road MOLA Z and the I.M JIHAN CO.LTD•APPLE•Shiden has to start the race from the back of the grid.

After the session ended, the car will be scrutinized and any infringement will almost inevitably be penalized, just as the I.M JIHAN CO.LTD•APPLE•Shiden team found out.

Although the qualifying session was over, there is no relaxing for all the crew involved, be it the mechanics or the engineers. They were all immediately at it again, fine tuning and working on the car for the race. These guys work very hard day and night just to get the car prepared for every session. It is a pity that one aspect of racing that has always been overlooked is the workforce that is involved in making a racing team what it is. Hats off to them, because definitely they deserve it!
