FIA GT1 – Aston Demoted from Podium at Silverstone
“In order to finish first, first you have to finish” A typical cliches that must be revamped in this modern motorpsorts era. now you have to add, to “finish first, first you have to pass the scrutiny”
What a surprise, I have just been informed that both Aston failed to get through scrutineering. It’s now the Nissan GT-R’s day to brag!!
Sumo Power GT Nissan GT-R of Warren Hughes and Jamie Campbell-Walter, which had originally finished third, was handed the win of the Silverstone round of the FIA GT1 World Championship after the nr7 Young Driver AMR Aston Martin DB9 of Darren Turner and Tomas Enge was excluded from the results because the friction block of the flat bottom of the car was not in accordance with the minimum thickness. The second placed Hexis AMR Aston Martin of Thomas Accary and Frederic Makowiecki was also given a 15-second penalty for not serving a drive through penalty within three laps. The result is provisional and subject to an appeal that has been lodged by the Young Driver AMR team.
