WRC 2010 Round 5 – Rally New Zealand : Day 3

Jari-Matti Latvala claimed victory at the Rally New Zealand by just 2.4 seconds ahead of Sebastien Ogier (below). Sebastien Loeb had the lead at one stage on the final day, but crashed into a tree and lost some 50 seconds. This dropped Loeb to 3rd in the final standings.


Loeb still has with a healthy lead in the driver’s championship standings despite finishing 3rd in New Zealand
Petter Solberg had a similar excursion when he crashed and took out an electricity pylon when he was in 3rd position. Mikko Hirvonen finished in 4th, ahead of 5th placed Dani Sordo, 6th placed Matthew Wilson (below) and Henning Solberg in 7th. Loeb now leads the driver’s championship standings with 108 points, 36 points ahead of his Latvala. The next round will be the Vodafone Rally de Portugal in three weeks time.
