GT3 Asia Grand Race – Porsche to the Fore

Mok Weng Sun completed the double after winning the Grand Race ahead of the defending GT3 Asia Champion Tunku Hammam Sulong in the GT3 Class. Mok’s Porsche 911 GT3 Cup is just too good for the rest of the Ferraris, Lamborghinis and Ginettas.

2nd place is not a bad result for Tunku Hammam who managed to push Mok Weng Sun all the way to the chequered flag. He managed to register the fastest lap with a time of 2:09.625.

Although not as dominant as his earlier Sprint Race victory, Mok did more than enough to hold off Tunku Hammam’s Lamborghini LP560. David Lai Tak Seng from Team Clearwater Racing finished 3rd in his Lamborghini Gallardo, 49.168 seconds behind the leader.

Meanwhile, Siu Yuk Lung from Team SPS Motorsport and Dilantha Malagamuwa of Dilango Racing Sri Lanka were tied together during the latter part of the race. The two Lamborghinis fought hard for 4th place, with Dilantha chasing and Siu Yuk Lung defending his position. Siu Yuk Lung managed to hold onto his 4th place, thus forcing Dilantha to settle for 5th place instead.

In the GTM Class, Jeffrey Lee won by quite a margin by leaving 2nd place man Mak Hing Tak a lap behind. Jacky Yeung finished 3rd ahead of Kenny Chun in 4th.

Simply too good. Mok Weng Sun was simply unbeatable for the whole weekend after he won 2 races and a pole position.

Mok Weng Sun now leads the driver’s championship standings in the GT3 Class heading into the 3rd Round of the championship at the Sepang International Circuit on the 18th – 20th June 2010. The series will run as the support race for the Super GT Series.
