Goodyear International Drift Round 1 – The Road to Final

Now on to the Top 8, Top 4, 3rd and 4th Placing and the Final Tandem.

Top 8

Fanga Dan vs Hashiguti Andersen. No drama in the first run as Hashiguti Andersen was on Fanga’s tail all the way to the last clipping point.

In the second run, Hashiguti Andersen spun and Fanga Dan cruise to take the victory.

Next to fall was Rhenardi Arinton, at the hands of Ah Fai. Ah Fai had completed several strong runs so far, at the rate of his performance it will take something extra to oust him.

Tan Tat Wei, in his rotary powered AE86, overtook Mervyn when he was following and according to the rules, you can’t overtake in a tandem battle. However due to the advantage given on his side because of Mervyn mistake, the judges had to call for One More Time.

The previous FXOpen finalist left Mervyn in the smokes after a OMT. Booking a place in the Top 4 with style and valor.

Ng Chun Lai vs Ivan Lau.

Ivan Lau AE86 machine with NOS injection in the end prevailed.
Top 4

Fanga Dan vs Ah Fai.

It was Fanga Dan for the victory. His consistency had never faded. The RB26 inside Holden Commodore was a match for anything.

Tan Tat Wei vs Ivan Lau. He is seen recovering from a spin. All Ivan Lau needed to do now is to drive home his machine safely.

And he did. With a lot of smokes. For Tan Tat Wei there was nothing much he could do.
3rd and 4th Placing

Ah Fai vs Tan Tat Wei. Ah Fai stuck to the back of Tan Tat Wei in the first run.

On the second run, Ah Fai had it easy as Tan Tat Wei crashed his car into the concrete barrier.

It was a disappointing manner of defeat for Tan Tat Wei.
Final

The final saw Fanga Dan started the first tandem run but was overtaken by Ivan Lau. Fanga Dan had drifted wide on the entry and Ivan slipped on the inside. Ivan Lau had blew it on the first run. It proved a mistake to overtook Fanga Dan on the entry.

The second run was all academic for Fanga Dan. He kept it cool to the finish line to win the tie.
