WRC 2010 Round 7 – Rally Bulgaria : Day 1

Citroen’s Sebastien Loeb continues his excellent run by leading at the end of the 1st day of Rally Bulgaria. Dani Sordo is 2nd ahead of Petter Solberg in 3rd, as Citroen continues to dominate the opening day.

Sebastien Ogier has to do it all over again after dropping from 2nd to 7th.

Loeb was untouchable as he swept all of the day’s 4 stages wins, despite a strong challenge from Sebastien Ogier. In SS3, Ogier was unlucky after he missed a junction when he misheard a pace note and getting his C4 WRC stuck for one minute, dropping him from 2nd to 7th. Another strong showing from Kimi Raikkonen was undone after he crashed out in SS4 while running in 4th place.

A good run from Petter Solberg saw him finishing the day in 3rd place.

Mikko Hirvonen finished the day in 4th place, more than a minute off the lead. Hirvonen’s Ford team-mate Jari-Matti Latvala is fifth, 10 seconds further behind.
