The 12 Hour Merdeka Millennium Endurance Race 2010 has concluded, it provided breathtaking dramas and brilliant storyline. Our team on the ground is overwhelmed and satisfied with what they have seen. As they recoup the energy to report what they have seen, let’s sidetrack a bit and enjoy some of the photos at the recent Round 2 of the Malaysian Rally.

No rain this time around, as the track stayed dry for the whole day during the 2nd Round of the Time to Attack challenge at the Sepang International Circuit. It was hot and humid as usual, which meant that the lap times are bound to be quicker compared to the times that were set during the 1st round in damp conditions. While there are some competitors from the 1st round that didn’t take part, a lot of new competitors emerged. Spotted were a few fully prepped time attack machines, a bunch of full spec race cars that took part in the Sepang 1000km and a preview of some of the teams that will take part in the upcoming Merdeka Millennium Endurance Race (MMER).

Time to Attack Round 2 will be organized this weekend at the Sepang International Circuit by the guys from zerotohundred.com and HPC Motorsports. According to the organizer, it is a lap time oriented event split in categories, inspired by the legendary Tsukuba Time Attack cult in Japan – and 100 cars will pound the circuit aiming for the best lap times.

As I write this back home in my not so comfy chair, the sound of the engine bursting through the woods still roared in the back of my mind. It was an astonishing experience. Petrolhead by nature, I’ve been to several events in these past few years. Nevertheless, as many of my colleagues pointed out, one can be there and seen it all. Yet still, these machines will never fall short to keep you in the state of amazement.

After two days of rallying and 12 stages being contested, Karamjit Singh emerged as the champion of the Malaysian Rally Championship (MRC) Round 2 at Bandar Seri Jempol, Negeri Sembilan.

In the tight and narrow paths of the rubber estate, almost all drivers cautiously raced through it, especially when approaching a jump. Except for one man, and that one man is none other than Malaysia’s legendary rally driver, Karamjit Singh.

‘Flying Sikh’ Karamjit Singh dominated the Malaysian Rally Championship (MRC) Round 2 at Bandar Seri Jempol in Negeri Sembilan. The multiple champion conquered all 12 stages during the 2-day event, finishing the 155.4km race in a total time of 2.07.30s. His teammate, Japanese Katsu Taguchi made it a 1-2 result for GSR Pennzoil Racing while Rafiq Udhaya clinched the final step of the podium for his stable MRU Motorsports.

Battle of Malaysia’s rally scene is upon us as Malaysian Rally Championship (MRC) continues this weekend at Bandar Sri Jempol in Negeri Sembilan. Top drivers from across the country such as multiple champion Karamjit Singh and MRC Round 1 winner Rafiq Udhaya will be vying for the win against the on form Japanese driver Katsu Taguchi, winner of the Malaysian Rally’s APRC category in Johor Bahru two months ago.
